Authentication

Authentication of identity is achieved by the person storing something about themselves that only they should know, possess or is a personal characteristic. These authentication methods, or 'electronic markers', allow an organisation to hand over the responsibility for authenticating their customers on their websites to Edentiti.
After Edentiti verifies an individual's identity, they're asked to store one or more electronic markers with their verification. Then, when an organisation wants to be sure they're dealing with the correct individual, they can ask Edentiti to ask the individual to authenticate themselves. Edentiti hands back an authenticated, previously identified individual, who can then undertake their online business on the organisation's website.
